The 13th September was a cold, wet and windy occasion at the Burnside Rugby Union Football Club with a quick downpour of hail stones setting the tone for the day, however the sun came out in drips and drabs. Despite the weather, schools from all over metro South Australia gathered to prove who would be crowned High School 7s champions.

Teams came from Christies Beach, Mount Barker, Unley, Underdale, Scotch College, Pembroke, Paralowie and Parafield Gardens – all sporting their schools colours, showed up ready to play despite the conditions but also to have fun and enjoy the day.

The Boys Open under 16s competition was won by debutantes Scotch College with Christies Beach being the runners up. The under 16s girls winners were Christies Beach with Pembroke runners up and fought til the end in a tight contest.

In the Boys Open under 18s, Paralowie just got over the line defeating again debutantes Scotch College in a very close final.

Guest appearances from Eva Pelite and Mahalia Murphy, both of whom are current players of the Australian Women’s 7s team and represented the University of Adelaide in the recent AON 7s competition.

All in all, a great day and a big thank you to all involved. Looking forward to seeing you develop and contest next year.
