State Representative Program Overview
Rugby Union SA currently facilitates senior representative and junior representative teams providing South Australians with the opportunity to represent their state at interstate tournaments & games against quality opposition.
These teams are vital for the development of elite players and sustaining Rugby Union in South Australia, as they provide the platform for players to go on to obtain higher honours. Exposure gained whilst representing South Australia has seen some local players go on to play professionally both Australia & Overseas.
Rugby Union SA’s state representative teams are coached by quality accredited coaches in South Australia. As a result players are treated like high performance athletes as they are exposed to advanced skills, game analysis, individual feedback & goal setting, strength & conditioning, nutrition, preparation & recovery and athlete values & behaviours.
To be considered for selection players must be registered with and playing for a South Australian club on a regular basis. Furthermore players must be financial with the club they represent (payment of club fees) as well as with the State Union (payment of fees for state programs).
Selection details for junior teams will be communicated directly to club Junior Coordinators & Club Coaches/Managers. All players must meet the age requirements for the age grade they wish to represent.
All state representative team queries should be directed to SA Rugby’s Pathway Coordinator Jason Hyam at firstname.lastname@example.org
